Preaching at Ventura County Rescue Mission

Posted by on 12:54 am in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Preaching at Ventura County Rescue Mission

Hey Everyone! Chad Here, and I am Asking For Your Prayers: I speak at Ventura County Rescue Mission WEDNESDAY (June 3rd) at 2:45PM! All of the men that I will speak with are there because they are making an effort to live in sobriety. Please pray that the Lord will give me the words to speak and that those words would encourage them to lay aside the deeds of the flesh and live a life completely set free from the bondage of sin! Pray that God is glorified and that the Holy Spirit moves in a radical way, revealing His Son to those who do not...

What About Weed?

Posted by on 2:10 am in Blog | Comments Off on What About Weed?

If you have ever been asked, “What does the Bible say about smoking weed?”, you might have found that it is not the easiest question to answer. You might wonder if the Bible has anything to say about the recreational use of drugs at all. While God’s word is not silent on the matter, it should also be known that you will not find the words weed, pot, chronic, dank, marijuana, or any other name for it for that matter. So what does it have to say on the subject? A lot actually! First and foremost, the Bible was not written in...

Kershaw Pitches With a Purpose

Posted by on 12:35 pm in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Kershaw Pitches With a Purpose

Today marks opening day for many teams throughout Major League Baseball. In Los Angeles, the Dodgers will be beginning their season with a starting lineup they think will give them the best chance to win. The best man they see, as well as everyone else, of giving them the best chance of winning is the 3 time Cy Young award winner and returning MVP pitcher, Clayton Kershaw.  While his name has become synonymous with Major League Baseball since his breakout year in 2011, many may not know that Clayton has a much greater purpose for playing than...

Happy Resurrection Day!

Posted by on 12:02 am in Uncategorized | Comments Off on Happy Resurrection Day!

The team at Revivus wants to wish everyone a happy resurrection Sunday! The apostle Paul said that the resurrection is the linchpin of all of Christianity. As he stated in 1 Corinthians 15:14 “if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain”. Paul was a man who left behind a life of luxury, the life of a leading 1st century Jewish Pharisee. He did not leave it behind because he was now going to live a life free of trouble, trusting in Christ would only bring him problems in this life. The man was...

A Year Without My Best Man

Posted by on 11:37 am in Blog | Comments Off on A Year Without My Best Man

It’s hard to relay the sort of emotions that go through your head when you first hear the news. Of course doubt. Of course sadness. Some anger. Remorse, regret, etc. It’s as if all of them are attempting to flood in and you just sit there numb to it.  My own body didn’t even know how to react. It wasn’t until I had to tell my wife that I finally broke down and then again when I had to Skype my brother and sister-in-law on their honeymoon to tell them what had happened. Chad Lackie passed away April 2, 2014. But it is...

“Out of The Mouth of Babes”

Posted by on 12:26 pm in Uncategorized | Comments Off on “Out of The Mouth of Babes”

Last night, as my wife and I are accustomed to doing, we put our 2 year old down and began to pray with him. I will typically pray something and he will repeat it and he usually is able to remember when to say, “In Jesus name, Amen”. But I have noticed recently that he has a lot of his own opinions and that he is really able to tell me what he wants (Even telling me that he wants the blueberry yogurt and that he does not like the peach one!). So I asked him, “Do you want to lead the prayer tonight Eli?” I told him,...

Just How Free Are You?

Posted by on 1:04 pm in Blog | Comments Off on Just How Free Are You?

There are so many times that I hear “Christianity has a bunch of rules, and I just want to be free to do what I want!” But what I would like to ask you is this: just how free are you? Many of my friends (and myself I might add) have had to learn the hard way. Being “free” isn’t as free as it sounds. Jesus even warned in John 8:34 that “everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.” So is this true? Are you really a slave to your sin? For anyone who has ever used drugs or alcohol, it is an easy...
